Went from an older detached house to an easy-care living space

– Everything here is so well taken care of, and this can really be recommended, says Mari Kleveland Lundeberg.

For over 30 years, she and her husband Olav lived in the house from 1917, and they wanted a more easily maintained home in a central location. When they came across the Porsgrunn Vest housing project, they quickly secured half of a two-person home.

– This is what I fell in love with, says Mari, welcoming us to Plassen 27. – We would have liked something smaller, but weren't ready for an apartment building and everything on one floor. The layout here suits the way we live very well.

The accommodation met all wishes

– We were used to living rooms both upstairs and downstairs from our previous home, and this is exactly how we want it. We also really like the outdoor areas here, says Mari as she looks out the windows on the second floor of the home, where the living room and kitchen, master bedroom and bathroom are located. The semi-detached house meets the requirements she and Olav had for a new home. We got involved early in the project and made some additional choices for the kitchen interior. But we liked the quality and materials that were chosen as standard and kept most of them.

Mari has a great interest in interior design, and has herself set up a shelving section that covers one wall of the living room. This is a combination of IKEA shelves and cabinets, and with moldings, putty and paint, this appears as an integrated wall in the living room. – We have kept most of the furniture and interior design that we had, and have added a few new things.

Good space for the whole family

The couple has two children and grandchildren who live in Moldhaugen in Porsgrunn and in Sarpsborg, respectively.
– From here it is a short distance to Moldhaugen. When we have visitors from Sarpsborg, we have enough room for everyone , she says.

The home contains two large bedrooms, two spacious bathrooms, an open and continuous living room and kitchen, in addition to storage rooms and a combined living room/office/guest room. There is access to balconies from the kitchen and living room on the 2nd floor, and to a terrace and privatized garden from the utility room on the first floor of the home.

A short walk to the city center

The upcoming bridge has helped the couple to be confident that the location of their new home is right. “ It is a transition to move from the east to the west side of Porsgrunn, but with the bridge the two districts will be connected. Here we are looking forward to living in quiet and peaceful surroundings, and it will be nice to be able to walk to the city center in a few minutes,” concludes Mari.
